Minority Scholarship

The Houston LOEX Committee and the LOEX Director congratulate the two recipients of the 2018 scholarships:
- Alyse Minter, Towson University and Ashleigh D. Coren, University of Maryland

A big thank you to everyone who submitted an application.

The Houston LOEX Committee, with the support of the LOEX Conference director, has reserved one PAID registration for a librarian or library school student who is a member of an under-represented minority group and/or who has done significant work to bring library services or information literacy opportunities to minorities. The scholarship will include a travel/lodging stipend of $250. Any additional conference-related expenses are the responsibility of the recipient.

Interested librarians and graduate students currently enrolled in ALA-accredited MLIS programs are strongly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who have been members of the profession for fewer than five years, and whose information literacy interests include outreach to underserved minority populations.

To apply, please send:

  • A current CV, including number of years in the profession
  • A 500-word essay describing your interest in Information Literacy Services

Submissions will be accepted by email only and should be addressed to: Melissa Heselmeyer, LOEX 2018 Minority Scholarship Chair, scholarship2018@loexconference.org

Deadline for submission is January 19, 2018. The recipient will be notified by email and announced on the LOEX 2018 Conference website by January 29, 2018.
