Welcome to all LOEX 2026 Attendees!

We are excited you are able to join us this year in Norfolk, VA for our conference! Along with the information shared in the May 5, 2026 email, here is some additional information on "What to Expect" at LOEX 2026.
  • Your LOEX adventure starts by stopping by the Registration & Information table (located on the 3rd floor on Thursday and on the 4th floor on Friday & Saturday). It is staffed anytime the schedule says “Registration and information”. Pick up your name tag, handouts like a printed schedule-at-a-glance, and swag; there is not a printed program booklet. You can also ask us questions about the conference.
  • Pick up a BINGO sheet to help you meet more people! Drop your completed sheet at the Registration desk for the drawing prize, a free copy of THE NEW INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN (do not need to be present to win).
  • Breakfast and lunch are provided on Friday and Saturday (both meals are in Main Salon DE on the 4th floor). Thursday’s meet-and-greet and Friday afternoon's break will have snacks. For dinner, you can eat on your own or join a dine-around at a local restaurant (payment once you are at your chosen restaurant is your responsibility).
  • On Friday, after breakfast, you stay in the Main Salon DE for the welcome remarks and then our plenary speaker.
  • For each Breakout session slot, you have a choice of sessions to attend. You do not need to sign up in advance—choose whichever one is of interest to you.
  • Conferences can be overwhelming and overstimulating! If you are feeling overloaded, consider spending a session slot walking around outside, enjoying quiet time at a nearby coffee shop, or talking with a new friend.
What makes a conference worthwhile varies for everyone. The most valuable LOEX experience is the one that you shape to fit your goals. We hope you have fun and learn a lot!
  • Consider packing:
  • 1. A cardigan or sweater in case you find the air conditioning too aggressive
  • 2. Your business cards or some other way to exchange your contact information
  • 3. A tote bag or something to carry your laptop or note taking device (LOEX does not provide bags; each attendee does receive a LOEX 2026 lined-paper notebook with a pen)
