Make Your Case to Attend
To help you communicate the benefits of attending and receiving institutional support for LOEX 2027, especially if your institution is experiencing tight budgets and/or reduced staff, consider using the following information:
Suggested Steps:
- Identify sessions that you believe will be especially helpful for improving your instructional practice or of benefit to your students.
- Determine how you'll share action items and fresh ideas learned at the conference (e.g., notes from speaker presentations and discussion groups, best practices, contacts you made through networking) with your colleagues upon your return.
- Draft a plan listing how essential tasks will be handled while you're away. Include how, if necessary, technology can easily keep you accessible.
- Tally your potential costs:
- Registration fee
- Monday Pre-conference workshop (optional)...and that's it -- there are no travel (e.g., airfare, taxis/Ubers, hotel) or meal costs.
- Put your request in writing, including all of the above information as well as the dates you would be away from work.
